Monegrid grew out of research at the Cal Poly Pomona Smart Grid Laboratory. A father-son team — Ryan Monemi and Dr. Saeed Monemi — spent years working on a hard question: can you see a power-system fault coming before it happens? The answer became SIGMA, a physics-informed predictive-reliability engine published at IEEE SoutheastCon 2026 and validated on live lab hardware and digital-twin simulations.
They did not stop at the paper. Around SIGMA they built the full stack — sensing and telemetry, real-time ingest, interpretable models, a prediction service, and dashboards — proving out an approach where every claim is measured and every result traces back to grid physics.
In 2026, Monegrid went commercial. Today the firm runs grid-interconnection EMT studies and facility short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies with the same evidence-first discipline that produced the research — PE-stamped by licensed professional engineers, built for grid-operator acceptance, and auditable line by line. And the team has grown, adding the commercial and client-operations people it takes to serve clients end to end.

Ryan leads Monegrid and built its technology stack end to end. He is a power-systems planning analyst at 1898 & Co. (Burns & McDonnell) and previously ran arc-flash, short-circuit, load-flow, and protective-device-coordination studies at SKM Systems Analysis, where he also built Python automation that extracts manufacturer time-current curves from datasheets into library-ready models — a power user of SKM PTW/PTX with working familiarity in ETAP and PSCAD. Earlier work spans electric-distribution engineering at SDG&E, a propellant-generation study created and delivered for SpaceX, and two years of research at the Cal Poly Pomona Smart Grid Laboratory. Dr. Monemi owns Monegrid's science and is the architect of its protection and reliability analytics framework. He has been a Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Cal Poly Pomona for more than 20 years, where he works in the Smart Grid Laboratory, and spent over a decade at the Tennessee Valley Authority building power-system protection. He maintains working utility relationships across SCE, LADWP, PG&E, and SDG&E, and is co-author of SIGMA (IEEE SoutheastCon 2026). Ph.D., Electrical Engineering, Vanderbilt University.
Director of Business Development
Michael leads business development across both of Monegrid's service lines — commercial strategy, outreach, and partnerships with developers, facility owners, and engineering firms. He comes from systematic trading, where he built and statistically validated futures-trading systems end to end: market-data capture, deterministic execution, and research harnesses built on walk-forward validation, bootstrap confidence intervals, and permutation testing. He brings that same evidence-first discipline to how Monegrid prices, proves, and stands behind its work.
Project Coordinator
Marcus is the project liaison for Monegrid clients and the first point of contact on every engagement. He owns scheduling, onboarding, document flow, and delivery follow-through — keeping each study moving from the first discovery call to the final deliverable and making sure nothing waits on a handoff.
